Volunteering is fun, big time.
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.
Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books. Eat a pizza with extra anchovies. Or just give some advice and inspiration. Whatever it is you enjoy, odds are you’ll enjoy it even more with your Little—and you’ll be making a life-changing impact.
Volunteering just a few hours a month with a child can start something amazing. So why not apply to be a Big today. There are kids out there ready to get started. Are you?
There are 21,000 boys ready and waiting to be matched with Big Brothers across the country right now … that’s double the number of girls waiting for a Big Sister. You can also make a donation to help fund the careful one-to-one matching and ongoing professional mentoring support unique to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Your gift will help match a child facing adversity with an adult mentor. The gift you make today will lead to successful outcomes for that child and his or her community.
Whether you get involved as a volunteer or as a donor, we welcome and thank you for your support!

Just a few hours a month can change a young person’s life.
Little Brothers and Little Sisters come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some may live on your block and some a few miles away. What do they all have in common? They need the friendship and guidance of someone like YOU.
In many ways, children face problems today that many of us never dealt with when we were kids. Yet even tough situations are easier when children have a Big Brother or Big Sister to look out for them.
- A Big is a trusted friend, caring mentor and life-changing role model.
- Bigs listen without judging.
- Bigs encourage discovery of interests and talents.
- Ultimately, a big will help their Little grow into a confident, capable, contributing adult.
Site-based mentoring (Lunch Buddy)
Lunch Buddy Bigs and Littles meet once a week in their schools (or the Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor) to talk and have fun. It’s not about being a tutor… it’s about being a friend.
There are plenty of fun activities at school:
- Chatting a while
- Sharing a meal
You meet with your little on your own schedule. It’s easy, too. Your Little can join you for the kinds of activities you already like to do, such as:
- Shooting hoops
- Playing a board game
- Making cookies
- Sharing a pizza
- Taking a walk in the park
- Just hanging out and talking
Want to Donate?
You can also get involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a donor. The gift you make today will help us match a child facing adversity with an adult role model. Your gift will allow us to change the life of a child for the better, forever.
When you donate online to Big Brothers Big Sisters, you join our cause and directly support children in your community. No matter how little or big the amount, donating can start making a difference in the lives of young people around you.
